When Robert J. Murphy purchased a house on Columbia Pike in 1956, it was the fulfillment of a dream. He had given up his brief career in government service, because he had always wanted to serve families as a funeral director. Now, with his degree in Mortuary Science, he was opening his first funeral chapel.
His commitment to compassionate service and personal attention has helped the Murphy Funeral Homes to grow. In 1966, Bob opened a second location, to serve the families of Falls Church. Today, with two locations, ten licensed funeral directors, and a crematory, Murphy Funeral Homes is still family owned…family operated…and still committed to the same ideals of service that inspired Bob Murphy’s dream over 40 years ago.
